Easy Crispy Beef Croquettes (Gluten Free)

Crispy Croquettes are the most delicious option for finger food or easy meal with a salad. Gluten Free Foodies will love them!

Crispy Beef Croquettes might sound fancy, but they’re actually very easy to make and even use up leftovers! In fact, these came about when I had some leftover mashed potatoes this week, I thought, “Why not turn these into something delicious?”

I had fresh beef mince and a few other ingredients in the fridge, so I mixed them all together and shaped the croquettes. It was so simple – I can’t believe I don’t make them more often!

Crispy Beef Croquettes

A crunchy coating is a must for croquettes. If you’re gluten-free, finding the right crumb is important. If you can’t find a good one, just blend some gluten-free bread with a pinch of salt to make your own.

You can cook these tasty bites in an air fryer or a pan, but this time, I baked them in the oven. That way, they browned beautifully while I took care of other things.

The result? Crispy, golden croquettes that were just as fun to make as they were to eat!

Ingredients

You can make my Crispy Beef Croquettes with simple ingredients you probably already have at home!

  • POTATO: Boiled and mashed.
  • BEEF MINCE: Cheap and cheerful.
  • GRATED CHEESE: I opted for grated mozzarella.
  • SHALLOTS: Finely sliced.
  • GARLIC: Finely sliced.
  • FREE RANGE EGGS: I always love the bright colour of the yolk
  • GLUTEN FREE CRUMBS: Store-bought or make your own

Instructions

Let’s get cooking! Crispy Beef Croquettes are ready in a flash, so it’s great recipe if you need to feed a crowd in a hurry.

  1. Heat a large pot of water and bring it to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook until soft. Mash them, season with salt, and let them cool.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the beef mince, garlic, shallots, and cheese. Add the mashed potatoes and mix well. Season with salt and pepper. You can also add extras like grated veggies, different cheeses, or baby spinach – or keep it simple!
  3. Beat the eggs in one bowl and put the crumbs in another. Shape the mixture into small croquettes, like mini sausages or koftas. Roll each one in the egg, then in the crumbs.
  4. Place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Spray with olive oil and sprinkle with a little salt.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 15 minutes. Then, flip them over and bake for another 10 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Serve with tomato sauce or a sweet chilli and sour cream dip – yum!
