Gluten Free Easy Asian Fish

My Gluten-Free, Easy Asian Fish is mid-week happiness! It has so much colour, taste, and ease! All you have to do is throw it all together on a baking tray and let it cook. The hardest part is not forgetting it’s cooking!

My Gluten Free Easy Asian Fish is packed with simple ingredients with maximum flavour. For the more adventurous, you can add more chilli or leave it out for the kids!

Ingredients

  • FRESH FISH: Grab any delicious saltwater fish you can find fresh at your local store. Always boneless. Allow one piece per person.
  • TAMARI: You’ll need ¼ cups of Gluten-Free Tamari, a must-have for your pantry. This is a gluten-free substitute for soy sauce-
  • SWEET CHILLI SAUCE: This is always GF. Not spicy. Sweet chilli sauce adds a pop of colour and a gloriously sticky sweet taste to the dish.
  • RED PEPPER: Here in Australia, we call them capsicums, but you will need one red bell pepper for this recipe.
  • ONIONS, LEMON AND GARLIC: You’ll need shallots or red onions, a big juicy lemon and plenty of garlic (to taste!)
  • SESAME SEEDS AND OIL: Sesame gives this dish a lovely nutty flavour. I like to double it up with seeds and toasted sesame oil.
  • TO SERVE: Steamed rice or rice noodles. Lots of Asian Greens – Broccolli, broccolini, Bok Choy, Green Beans

Instructions

  1. Let’s get cooking! First, heat the oven to 180°C / 350°F.
  2. Line an oven tray with baking parchment paper and place the fish on top.
  3. Here is the fun part: Drizzle over your sauces: tamari, sweet chilli, and sesame oil. Take your time, as it’s lovely and relaxing after a crazy day!
  4. Sprinkle with the garlic, sliced peppers and shallot
  5. Place the lemon slices on top, then sprinkle over sesame seeds and pop the trays in the oven for 30 minutes.
  6. Once cooked, the fish will fall apart, and the sauce will have reduced into a heavenly sticky sauce. SO GOOD!

Tips and Tricks

What should I serve with Asian Fish?

Serve with steamed rice or rice noodles and bowls of Asian green veggies for everyone to help themselves!

Can I prepare GF Asian Fish in advance?

Yes!! This is great for meal prep! Portion it up into individual containers and take it to work. Everyone will be jealous!

Can I freeze this dish?

Fish is SO much better cooked fresh and is ready in a flash. I’d recommend not freezing this dish, just cook a day in advance and warm through as necessary.
